This is the second photo in my dramatic lighting portion. As stated in the other post each of these photos give different representations of the term "dramatic" preferebly hinting at the term in different time periods. This photo represents more of the drama that would be found in old films and silent films. In these movies they would exaggerate with their facial expressions, especially with silent films because those would rely on facial expressions as there is no sound. The lighting in this photo is focused under my subject. This reveals the creases in her face which accentuates the facial expression. Her facial expression can be interpreted as a mixture of stress, frustration and fatigue. She gives a hopeless and tired looking look. The lighting around my subject is dark and it is a photo of her reflection. This ensures that the main focus of the photo is of the expression which makes it dramatic. The fact that she is looking at herself in the mirror makes the subject and photo seem more personal and dramatic as she is making this expression towards herself. This can give underlying themes of personal struggle as well.
